AUGUST CLASSES
August 20th - Ayurveda Cooking - creating health
through food choices Lecture Series - $35
According to Ayurveda, there is a substance
called 'ojas', which is extracted from food once it had been perfectly digested.
This is the basis of an Ayurvedic approach to understanding nutrition which is
different from Western nutritional science. We will learn about the various states of the
food and our body, flow of food energy through the bodys seven tissue layers, effect
of the food on the body.
In short we will learn how to use food to create health
August 27th - Summer Wealth - summer cooking at
its best - Cooking Class $55
We
invite you to learn about using spices and herbs and combine them with veggies from the
farmers market. Spices are the soul of food. Spices when combined with herbs add such
flavor pleasure that it makes the experience sensual.
In this class we will learn the nature of various spice/herb ingredients and how to
combine them and when to use them and when not to. We will make okra, veggies in coconut
curry, paneer (Indian cheese) in sweet and sour curry, cucumber raita and an herbal salad.
Our menu will be art with the spices like an artists palette, the herbs like the
contours and strokes of a painting and the main ingredients like our canvas. Bring your
inspirations and the meal will turn out divine.
